After the huge success of Disney Infinity last year, there was no doubt that Disney would be bringing as many of its properties as possible into the game. We expected to see characters from our favorite Disney classics like Hercules or Mulan, but fans that dared to dream even bigger hoped to someday see Marvel and Star Wars characters in the game, and they may have gotten their wish. IGN reports that these properties are being developed for the game, though there was no other information available at the time. Sadly, this news came alongside a report that the company would be laying off several hundred workers from its interactive media branch.
These are exciting times for Disney Infinity fans, but the news of layoffs certainly puts a damper on things. It’s shocking to hear how many people are being laid off, especially when you consider how successful Disney Infinity was at launch, and still is today. Hopefully all of the laid off workers find new work as quickly as possible.
