It’s a busy week on the eShop, with the long awaited Wii U release of a certain woolly wonder, a classic GBA arcade brawler on the Virtual Console, and a whole bunch of other downloads and discounts. There is even something new for Wii owners in the form of a new, free of charge WiiWare app. Enjoy!
Releases
Wii U eShop
- Momonga Pinball Adventures – $5.99 – Another example of a title that started out on smart devices and has now released on home consoles, and for the better it would seem. This version has an extra story mode and survival mode included along with three extra minigames.
- Rakoo and Friends – $9.99 – A mix of both racing and adventure over 60 levels as well as an added multiplayer option, this gorgeous looking title may be worth a look.
- Ninja Strike: Dangerous Dash – $5.99 – If you like depth to your games then this may not be for you. It’s fairly simple– just run through the levels collecting items and dealing with bad guys whilst following on screen prompts on the GamePad, much like its previous smartphone outing.
Wii U Virtual Console
- Final Fight One – $7.99 – If there is one game that I have played almost every ported version of, its this one. Final Fight was one of my first experiences with a side scrolling beat-’em-up and is still one of the best. Although this GBA version is not technically arcade perfect, it’s still by far the best Nintendo port you can get, featuring all three characters, a previously missing level, and extra character skins.
Wii U Retail Download
- Yoshi’s Woolly World – $49.99 (Available from October 16) – It may seem a hefty price tag but many people have had a long time to save since the announcement of Yoshi’s latest title over two years ago. That wait is almost over, however, as the cute, wool-based platformer is finally released tomorrow, offering a ton of Amiibo support, co-operative play, and some great little set pieces.
- New Super Mario Bros. U + New Super Luigi U $59.99 – It’s a surprise that this hasn’t been available sooner given how long both games have been available. This great digital bundle not only offers Mario’s original Wii U adventure but also the brilliant but absolutely mental Luigi DLC.
WiiWare
- Crunchyroll – Free – Any fan of Japanese anime will know about Crunchyroll, a video streaming app offering a variety of anime, manga, drama, and music to a large online community. Most of this community will also know that the app has been available for Wii U for some time now. Although its WiiWare debut may be a little underwhelming, it’s nice to know there is still some support for the aging console.
3DS eShop
