Good news for those looking to soil themselves before Halloween, as Slender: The Arrival drops on the Wii U eShop next Thursday, October 22. Blue Island Studios made the announcement, noting the game will be downloadable for $9.99. Slender is about its titular man in black, whose featureless face haunts the player throughout the adventure as they try to rescue their friend from an unknown fate. Players wield their Wii Remotes as flashlights as they make their way through Slender‘s creepy, tense world, trying to discover the truth.
Slender Man himself is an intriguing and controversial character. His origins can be traced to a contest on an Internet forum, exploding into a viral sensation from there. In recent years the character’s popularity has blossomed, with multiple games, stories, and even films dedicated to Slender Man appearing across various media platforms. There’s also a small, cultish fringe contingent of the Slender Man fan base, of which a handful have committed crimes allegedly in his name or as a response to the character. If your gut reaction to that was “creepypasta,” well, thank Slender Man for that, too; the term originated from him, as well.
Brrrrrrrrr. Well, I’m creeped out, and more than just a little curious to see whether Slender: The Arrival will be able to live up to the hype. Are you interested in downloading the game? What are your thoughts on Slender Man? Speak out, below!

I’ve played the demo on XBL, but waited when I heard it was coming to WiiU. From what I’ve seen, it’ll keep you up at night.
