According to Nikkei, a Japanese business publication, it seems that Nintendo is going to launch an ebook service just for the 3DS.
This new app will initially be Japan-only and is aimed mostly at children. So for you parents who want to get your kids to read but they won’t get their noses out of their 3DSes, you’re in luck! The app will feature something along the lines of 300 books. While most bookworms would probably have a Kindle or use their smartphones, the fact that it’s being offered on the 3DS is intriguing as well. No word yet if it will make its way to North America or Europe, but it’s possible.
As of right now, there is no release date for the app in Japan.
