The new 3D Mario game wasn’t the only big announcement during today’s Nintendo Direct broadcast; the Big N also lifted the veil on Mario Kart 8, the upcoming Wii U installment of its popular kart racer.
Like the 3DS game before it, Mario Kart 8 allows players to race through the air and underwater thanks to deployable hang gliders and propellers, which presumably means that players will once again be able to customize their vehicles before a race. This time around, players can also race upside down and along walls thanks to new anti-gravity wheels, which add a new twist (no pun intended) to the Mario Kart gameplay. Fans of Mario Kart Wii will be happy to learn that motorbikes will be making a return in Mario Kart 8 as well.
A release date for the Mario Kart 8 has yet to be announced, but Iwata promises the game will be launching spring 2014.

this game looks very promising, it has the best graphics of all the first party titles.
