Well, they got DAVID WISE back for the music, added back in swimming, and there are four playable characters. I would say that Donkey Kong Country Returns was fun; but Tropical Freeze looks better. I mean, new compositions from DAVID WISE. One of the best things about the original Donkey Kong Country games was the music.

It’s not that I didn’t like DK Returns. I had fun with it for sure, but certainly wasn’t hoping for a sequel. I’ve got my fill of 2D platformers for awhile. I was hoping they would have been working on new IP or at least bringing back a long forgotten one. I love DK, but this was not what I was expecting. Basically, after I heard it, I deflated like a balloon.

not even david wise and his amazing musical skills can make this good news, i really really wanted retro to make something bigger and better.

At first, admittedly, I was a bit mad that this was the game Retro has been working on (although, I still believe there is a second in development); however, after really digging into the videos and picking them apart, this game is amazingly detailed and designed. This is a fully 3D worl even though you only move a long one plane at a time. And, many levels seem to have 6 or even 7 planes in them and even more layers of art on top of that. The dynamic camera is really impressive.

overall i liked the games presented in the nintendo direct, i also have problems watching it, in fact, i haven’t watched it yet, i have seen all the trailers but i wasn’t able to watch it live, so yeah, that was very bad on nintendo’s part. I’m also super dissapointed that retro is working on DKCR, DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE YEAR!!

I think mario kart looks Awesome, i didn’t expect to be this hyped for a mario kart, megaman in smash, yeah!!! i predicted this in the last show!

X is looking better than ever, is my most anticipated game for wiiU, best game of the show for me.

bayoneta and wonderful 101 look amazing too.

oh and mario 3d world, big dissapointment too, i was expecting something better.

So overall i will give this nintendo e3 a 7.5

    Super Mario 3D Universe

Super Mario 64 is my favorite game of all time. Super Mario 3D Land feels more like a sequel to SM64 than Super Mario Galaxy does. I have been trying to play through Galaxy 1 & 2 since they were released, but I still haven’t beaten them yet. I was able to beat SM3DL, however, and I am even working towards getting the five shiny stars.

The problem that I have with the Galaxy games is that I get lost in the hub world too easily. I know that Galaxy 2 is supposed to be easier to navigate, but I haven’t gotten to it yet because I’m still working on the first game. I have so little time to play that it takes me too long to get re-acclimated to where I left off in the game. I’m very happy to see that we are getting Super Mario 3D World instead of Super Mario Universe. I won’t be ready to play Mario Universe until after I have finished playing through all of the other Mario games. I do still want it; I’m just not ready for it yet.

Also, it will be wonderful to play SM3DW multiplayer with my daughter now that Princess Peach is playable. And the cat suit is already a hit with her just from watching the videos. I’ve wanted an online multiplayer 3D Mario since the 64, so I hope they eventually take the series online. Another issue I see is that SM3DL makes extensive use of 3D on the 3DS. I hope beyond hope that Nintendo includes a 3D mode, like in Assassins Creed 3, so that people who have a 3D TV can play Super Mario 3D World in 3D.

Hey guys. I figure I’d share my thoughts. I’m excited for 101, P3, Rayman Legends & Adventure Time but those are all known quantities. WW HD looks cool. Sonic might actually be good. I could care less about DK Tropical Smoothy. I never got into the first. I was hoping on Retro doing something new. I’ve enjoyed 3DS’s franchise revivals, KI:U & LMDM and was hoping for another. But they are playing it safe. But given SMBU low performance will DK Tropical Smoothy really make a difference? I’m guessing not. I have really mixed feeling about SMB3DWorld. 3D land is great. But not what Galaxy was. 3D world could be amazing don’t get me wrong but it’s not the revolution we all expected. It almost feels like it was ported from 3DS at the last minute? I played it at Best Buy. With a wiimote. Did not like it. I hope it has Classic Controller Prop support in the retail release.

2013 feels a bit underwhelming. However, holy crap 2014 looks amazing. Smash Bros has no tripping! X is my most anticipated game currently. Mario Kart looks fun. Yarn Yoshi. ZombiU 2? 2014 looks like WiiU is gonna kill it.

I think I’ll be happy with my WiiU but retro not doing something new kinda hurts it big time. I think if retro was reviving an old IP and the presentation had not been terribly presented the narrative would be different.

Sidenote: PS4 pre-ordered. Sony won E3 and this gen. I’ll get it for exclusives and 3rd party since WiiU is getting skipped.

Picking up Game & Wario Sunday. My first new WiiU retail game since getting the system for Xmas. Are you guys getting it?

Also I agree MarioKart looks different enough. It also looks the best visually. Maybe even better than current gen. Looking forward to playing online with all of you next spring!!!

I have a feeling that Nintendo is just giving the holiday away to Sony/Microsoft. Wii U also need stronger 3rd party support and a price cut.
