During an investors briefing earlier today, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata confirmed what many fans had begun to suspect: Mario Golf: World Tour has been delayed until 2014.
According to Iwata, the title was delayed in part to better stagger out 3DS’s release calendar. That certainly sounds like a good idea given how packed 2013 has been for the handheld; not only has it already seen a number of fantastic titles like Fire Emblem Awakening, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, and Animal Crossing: New Leaf all hit shelves within the span of a few months, but it still has heavy-hitters like Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Pokémon X and Y, and the newly-titled The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds slated for release before the year’s end. Delaying Mario Golf to 2014 gives 3DS owners another big name title to look forward to going into next year, and hopefully gives developer Camelot more time to polish the game up before release.
