Wii U got off to a good-but-not-great start when it launched in the UK a little over ten days ago. However, recent game sales charts for Britain are not being so kind to Nintendo’s new console and its games. In fact, no Wii U exclusive titles have managed to breach the top 20 in sales. Two Wii U exclusives did get into the top 40, with Nintendo Land at number 26, and New Super Mario Bros. U coming in at 36.
Why such low game sales? It may be due to the still small Wii U userbase in the UK. However, many retailers have plenty of Wii U systems in stock around the country. Perhaps the Wii U will receive a much-needed sales boost in the UK as the holiday shopping season continues.
On the plus side, quite a few Nintendo 3DS titles are in top 40 of UK game sales. New Super Mario Bros. 2 is at number 17, and other titles like Professor Layton, Paper Mario: Sticker Star, and Mario Kart 7 are in the top 40.

It must be pointed out that here in the UK we group all format games as one. So FIFA is actually all formats together. Hardly surprising that a game released on one console with such a currently small user base won’t scratch the surface of a chart put together in such a backward way.
