Famitsu reports that the upcoming console release of Resident Evil: Revelations will contain over ten characters in raid mode, the game’s multiplayer co-op offering. The story mode will also receive minor tweaks and fixes, while the raid mode will be further expanded. Additionally, a DLC will be available to early adopters of the game and will contain three special weapons usable in both raid mode and story mode.
These reports demonstrate clearly that the console version of Resident Evil: Revelations is no simple port. Revelations comes to PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U on May 21 in the States and on May 24 in Europe.
Curiously, Fire Emblem: Awakening also sports an exclusive DLC for early buyers. Is exclusive DLC for early buyers simply a marketing fad? Or could it be an emerging trend in content distribution? There is no denying that both 3DS and Wii U– like other systems– are moving away from a physical model for content distribution.
