Nintendo has announced it will participate in this year’s Gamescom, which will be taking place in Cologne, Germany this August!

For the unfamiliar, Gamescom is a premier gaming exhibition held annually in Europe. Exhibitors come from all around the world, and there are currently twelve registered country pavilions. Companies like Bethesda Softworks, Koch Media, Electronic Arts, Konami, Riot Games, Ubisoft, NCSOFT, and Warner Bros. have also confirmed their appearance.

After the recent Nintendo Direct episodes focused on Wii U and 3DS, what will Nintendo show us at Gamescom? In particular, many of the “Year of Luigi’s” landmark titles will have been released by August. Furthermore, this year’s E3 will take place in June, preceding Gamescom. What can Nintendo dazzle us with? At this moment, I am simply enjoying Fire Emblem: Awakening while waiting patiently for Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Pikmin 3.

I’m guessing this was in response to Sony’s announcement today. i could be wrong. Nintendo is already doing a great job with the 3DS and now they will have two more chances to showcase their line up before the holiday season!
