The latest 3DS firmware update has brought with it a bevy of new custom themes for the system’s Home menu! Five are included for free, while others can be purchased via the eShop, ranging in price from $0.99 to $1.99. The pre-installed themes are color-based (I’m rocking black right now, myself), whereas the premium ones boast characters and patterns. It’s superfluous to be sure, but for many it’s a welcome change to the handheld.
Along with the Home themes, there were also some practical additions brought with the new update. Screenshots can now be taken of the Home menu, for starters (Nintendo is no-doubt hoping fans will make social media posts of their spiffy new designs!). It will be easier to post those pics to the web with access to the Image Share feature now on the Home menu. Finally, navigation of the eShop for demos and software is smoother with a refined layout. Overall, a very productive update from Nintendo!
Are you interested in the new themes? Is there a favorite among either the pre-installed or premium themes? Sound off in the comments!
