How long will Nintendo make us wait until it releases the next Metroid game? If Next Level Games’ concept art leak of Samus is any indication, we’ll probably see the return of our favorite bounty hunter from some Nintendo developer in a few years. However, I can’t wait that long! I’m here twiddling my thumbs, waiting for a Metroid announcement to happen!
Thankfully, I won’t have to wait too long to satisfy my urges. Renegade Kid, an indie developer that made titles like Mutant Mudds, is creating a new Metroidvania called Xenodrifter. The gameplay trailer showcases Xeodrifter‘s beautiful pixel art, fantastic soundtrack, and its huge world spanning multiple explorable planets. You can see that the game borrows some Metroid staples like the speed booster, but also adds new features like jumping between the foreground and background as done in Mutant Mudds. Everything looks gorgeous and I can’t wait to get my hands on the game.
