If you like Fatal Frame, then I have some good news for you! During a live stream, Koei Tecmo revealed that a new game in the series, titled Fatal Frame: The Black Haired Shrine Maiden, will be heading to Wii U in Japan this September.

This latest title has the same mechanics as previous games in the series, with the primary focus being on photographing ghosts, but there are a couple of major differences that set it apart. The biggest difference is the way that you take photos, as you can now use the GamePad as the camera itself and view things that can’t normally be seen on the television screen.

The other difference is the game’s strong focus on water and the fear of getting wet, which adds to the horror elements of the game. Producer Keisuke Kikuchi said that a lot of areas will have damp settings and the ghosts will be drenched in water to further emphasize this fear within the game.

Unfortunately, there’s no word of this game releasing overseas, but I would love to see something like this become localized. Wii U horror games are practically nonexistent, so it would be awesome to see Fatal Frame fill that void. Would you like to get your hands on this game as well? Let us know in the comments below!

Looks fantastic. This just skyrocketed to the top of my “want” list. There has been a dearth of survival horror titles since the genre’s heyday, and I’m very happy to see the Wii U getting something that looks this good. Now, if we can get a solid US release date (early 2015 would be awesome), I’ll be ecstatic.

I’m not usually a fan of the horror game genre. The last horror game I played was Alan Wake, and that was given to me for free.

That said, I could see myself getting this game. Not going to get my hopes up until a localization announcement though.
