Earlier this year, Nintendo and Koei Tecmo announced that they would be bringing a new entry in the classic survival horror series Fatal Frame to Wii U. Not much info about the game has surfaced since then, but Nintendo has revealed through its official Twitter feed that it will be announcing new details about the game through a media broadcast in Japan on July 17 at 1:30 PM (for us in the States, that will be 9:30 PM Pacific, 12:30 AM Eastern). Apparently there will be announcements for a new manga, film, and novel that are also on their way as well, and the broadcast will feature special guests from Nintendo, including Shigeru Miyamoto.
Fatal Frame’s popularity has dipped in America over the years, and none of the more recent entries in the franchise have made their way to the United States, though Project Zero 2: Wii Edition did make its way to Europe in 2012. I have a lot of friends who enjoyed this series on PlayStation 2, so hopefully the new title can carve out a nice niche on Wii U and revive interest in the series.
