With Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire just a few months away from release, new information is starting to come in regarding the twin remakes. Today, The Pokémon Company released some new details as well as an all-new trailer for the games, which we’ve embedded below. While some of the information has already been revealed, it’s certainly nice to see some new footage of the game in English.
Like any good trailer, there are plenty of new tidbits to get fans excited. We see a couple of returning Gym Leaders, as well as returning members of the Elite Four of Hoenn. Interestingly enough, the accompanying media only shows five of the Gym Leaders from the original Game Boy Advance titles, as well as two members of the Elite Four. When Pokémon Gold and Silver allowed players to return to the Kanto region from Pokémon Red and Blue, two of the original Gym Leaders had been replaced. Perhaps the Hoenn region has seen some turnover of its own! Players will also get to act like their own Gym Leaders in the game’s secret bases, which were revealed last week.
The trailer also confirms that Mega Metagross will make a debut in the title, while the accompanying art shows that players will have to face off against him when they challenge the Pokémon League Champion Steven. The behemoth will boast the ability Tough Claws, which powers up the pocket monster’s speed and physical based attacks. And you thought he was tough to face off against before! Mega Diancie will also bring a new ability to the table: Mega Bounce, which inflicts status changes on the opposing player that attempts to use it. If you try to put this Pokémon to sleep, it’ll be your creature that ends up taking a nap!
Pokémon Contests also appear to be getting some interesting changes. In the trailer, we see Pikachu with a number of different costumes, including Pikachu Belle, Pikachu Libre, Pikachu Ph. D, Pikachu Pop Star, and Pikachu Rock Star. Whether or not we’ll see other Pokémon wearing these cosplay outfits, or if they’ll show up anywhere outside the contests themselves, remains to be seen.
Are you planning on checking out Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire when they debut this November? As always, let us know in the comments below!
