The eShop is a great place for publishers to localize their games overseas. In the past, a company had to worry about the additional costs of producing copies of a game, but the eShop eliminates that factor and makes it less of a risk financially. For instance, Umihara Kawase, a cult platforming series in Japan, never reached the west since its debut in 1994 on SNES. However, the eShop made localization easy for the most recent game in the series, Yumi’s Odd Odyssey.
Being a full retail game, it originally launched at a $30 price point, which may have scared off some potential buyers. However, the game will now be discounted permanently at $19.99, making this the perfect time to purchase it. I’ve been following this game for a while after it received positive reviews from critics, so it seems like I finally have an excuse to pick it up.
Will you buy Yumi’s Odd Odyssey or have you already played it? Let us know in the comments!

At $30, Yumi’s price was a tad steep, especially for an unproven entity here in the US. At $20, it’s still on the heftier side for some players, but I really recommend it. I used my Wii U digital deluxe cash to buy it a couple months ago, and it was worth every penny. Very fun, very original.
I should after seeing the reviews. I’m just as guilty as many of not wanting to try new ip’s. Need to expand a little and give new games a shot
