Unseen64 recently reported that Nintendo of America will no longer be publishing the Wii U exclusive action/adventure game Devil’s Third.

According to Liam Robertson from Unseen64, Nintendo of America has decided not to publish the game due to concerns about its overall quality. The full video which explains his findings can be found below:

Since then, Siliconera has gone on to confirm this initial rumor. Western fans looking forward to playing the game need not despair quite yet, however, as in the same article, it was claimed that the game will in fact be brought to the West by another publisher. The site claims that it is one which Western gamers are “quite familiar with.”

Nintendo itself has not commented on the situation, so it remains to be seen who this mystery publisher is and the exact reasons behind Nintendo’s decision not to publish the game itself.

If you were excited about Devil’s Third, has this news put you off the game at all? Let us know what you make of it all below.

Wonder if they will just start backing off of publishing a lot of titles in favor of pushing games to the NX. At this point I almost feel kind of screwed by Nintendo, but no one forced me to buy the Wii U. I still like it, but if the rumors of the NX coming out next year are true then I’ll wait and see how it sells for a year or so. Nintendo systems are my first choice, which is why I haven’t bought either of the new systems yet. Waiting for some good games, which are very few on the other two systems.

The story and action looked pretty promising and fun, but I guess we’ll have to see if there are indeed “quality concerns”.

Nintendo distancing themselves from a game seems like a bad sign on the surface, but I’ll be keeping an eye on this anyway. After all this is a company who ditched the PlayStation, Star Fox 2, Earthbound 64, and Rare.

Good points. Forgot about Earthbound 64. Nintendo sure digs its own grave sometimes. Should have released, and should still release Starfox 2. What I can never figure out is why they are releasing DS games on the Wii U instead of the 3DS, with the weird interface and all that, and why some SNES titles that should be on the 3DS are NOT. Like Link to the Past. Almost every other Zelda is there, but not that one? Strange.
