The Binding of Isaac has an interesting history when it comes to Nintendo. The challenging rogue-like was originally planned to come to 3DS several years ago but ran into issues with Nintendo’s policies regarding potentially controversial content, especially religious themes. Considering the fact that The Binding of Isaac featured a naked child fleeing his mother who wanted to sacrifice him in order to appease God, one could see how there might be an issue.
Thankfully, Nintendo has lightened up a bit in recent years and this has allowed The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth to finally find its way to New 3DS and Wii U. Starting on July 23, the game will be available to download in North America from the eShop for $14.99. And that’s right, it will specifically be for New 3DS, which isn’t too surprising considering the fact that the game plays very much like a twin stick shooter.

As for gamers across the pond, they’ll have to wait a little bit longer; Nicalis, the game’s publisher, stated that it is still awaiting Nintendo of Europe’s final approval. If NOA gave its okay, then I can only imagine that it’s just a matter of time for Europe to follow.

Hmmm, looks interesting but too bad no physical release on the New 3DS. Might get it on the Wii U though, depending on the reviews.
