Nintendo’s business development manager, Dan Adelman, told Joystiq that “we don’t often compare ourselves to other consoles. We have a history of doing our own thing, for better or for worse.” Adelman brings up how the success of the Wii depended on new, inventive gameplay rather than graphics and GPU power. As Nintendo’s indie outreach specialist, Adelman is trying to invite more indie developers to develop for Wii U. However, Adelman notes that “a lot of developers are waiting on the install base to grow a little bit faster.” He suspects that this will happen as the holiday releases roll by.
“Gameplay is forever,” Adelman claims. Here’s to hoping the upcoming releases can capture the same gameplay magic as previous landmark titles.
