Update: The Pokémon Company has provided new details about Galarian Ponyta, as well as a brand-new trailer. Galarian Ponyta is a Psychic-type, and will be exclusive to Pokémon Shield, similar to the exclusivity of Sirfetch’d in Sword. Galarian Ponyta will have the ability Pastel Veil, which prevents it from being poisoned, and also cures a poisoned ally when it’s switched into battle.

Well, it was a long 24 hours, but The Pokémon Company’s livestream from the Galar region’s Glimwood Tangle finally had a bit of a payoff: the reveal of Ponyta’s Galarian form!
The new Pokémon was teased all throughout the day with galloping noises and a handful of extreme close-ups. We still don’t actually have any information on what type this version of Ponyta will be or any other details, though it does have the same “cry” Ponyta has had since Pokémon Red and Green. The livestream certainly had its shares of lulls (and even some Morelulls!), but finally getting to see this new Galarian version of the popular Kanto Pokémon was still a bit exciting, nonetheless!
With the livestream now ended, we should have some more information direct from The Pokémon Company very soon. Stay tuned to Nintendojo for more as it develops!
