A few weeks ago, box art made its way onto the web for a sequel to Resident Evil: Revelations, the critically acclaimed survival horror title that started life on 3DS before making its way to home consoles. We enjoyed both the 3DS and Wii U versions of the game, and we were not alone in that opinion, as many heralded the game as a return to form for a series that had seemingly forgotten its survival horror roots. Unfortunately, it looks like this follow up will be skipping Nintendo systems entirely.
Capcom has officially revealed Revelations 2 along with the fact that it will be coming out for PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PS4 in early 2015. The publisher also confirmed it is being produced by the core staff responsible for the original Revelations, so hopefully it will continue to be true to the more scare-oriented formula.
While I have pretty much grown used to major releases from big publishers skipping over Nintendo consoles, I have to admit this one stings a little bit due to the simple fact that Revelations got its start on 3DS and survival horror is rather underrepresented in the world of handheld gaming.

“… this one stings a little bit due to the simple fact that Revelations got its start on 3DS …”
My thoughts exactly. I like the RE series, loved the Wii entries, and have been quite vocal about how fantastic Revelations is on 3DS.
It’s definitely disappointing to hear that PS3 and 360 would get the game, but not Wii U. Doubly so when you figure that Capcom already has the Revelations engine running on Wii U since that game saw a retail release on the console.
