I know what you’re thinking. You like a fighting game. You’re excited about Tekken 7, but you’re worried that it’s going to be the same game all over again. Well, fear not. Something shocking is coming, just for you. Namco Bandai is working on a Pokémon-themed fighter called Pokkén Tournament.

There’s an English language trailer now online here.

According to Soulcalibur producer Masaaki Hoshino, the game is around 30 percent complete, and will be available for excited or bemused Japanese arcade goers in 2015. It looks beautiful and like it intends to be a serious fighting title, not aimed at younger casual gamers. Playable characters look like they’ll have a range of moves including the recent Mega Evolutions, which suggests that the teams from Namco and The Pokémon Company have worked closely to make this an up-to-date and as shocking a development as they promised.
