The Wii U version of Resident Evil: Revelations wasn’t the only high-profile game hitting stores this week– today also marks the release of Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D in North America and Europe!
As you’d gather from its title, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D is a 3DS port of Retro’s excellent Wii platformer. Handled by Monster Games (developer of Excitebots and Pilotwings Resort), Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D brings a handful of new features to the classic gameplay, adding a ninth world to clear, an easier difficulty mode for less experienced players, new items to collect, and stereoscopic effects. The game also supports local, multi-card co-op with one other player.
Have you already played Donkey Kong Country Returns on Wii? Will you be picking up a copy of the 3DS port this weekend? Let us know in the comments!
I already owned the Wii version, but when I played it I said that it would be soooo cool as a 3DS game because of all the background/foreground jumping you do. So, I decided to pick it up again on the 3DS (which is something I rarely do: picking up 2 versions of the same game). I’m amazed at just how fluid it still plays on the handheld and in 3D. It’s definitely the best version and the level layout is almost like it was originally made to go mobile.
If I remember right, the game was originally announced on the same day the 3DS was. When I first saw video of it, I thought it was a 3DS game. Now it finally is, and I’m enjoying it greatly. :^)
I was on the fence about getting the 3DS version, particularly since I already own the game for Wii, but seeing you two talk about it so enthusiastically makes me want to take the plunge. XD
I’m downloading this game as I type
Let us know how you like it!
