Even without last week’s double-whammy of EarthBound and Shantae lingering in our minds, this week’s downloads would still be disappointingly slim. That said, there are still a couple of gems for 3DS and Wii U owners to enjoy.
Headlining this week’s batch of downloadables is the original Kid Icarus, which is now available in the Wii U eShop for $4.99. Like other Virtual Console titles, Kid Icarus supports off-TV play on the Wii U GamePad, allowing players to trek through Angel Land entirely in the palm of their hands (assuming they haven’t already done so in the superior 3D version of the game, which can be purchased on the 3DS for only a dollar more).
On the handheld front, 3DS owners can now download PICROSS e2 and the colorful shoot-’em-up Chain Blaster, which retail for $5.99 and $6.99, respectively. Rounding out this week’s batch of downloads are Angler’s Club: Ultimate Bass Fishing and Cute Witch! Runner, both of which are also available in the 3DS eShop.
Will you be downloading any of this week’s new titles, or are you still busy with EarthBound? Let us know in the comments!

I always have fun with Kid Icarus, but I can never make it past the second level. This problem is common with NES games I play. Guess I’m not playing with enough power.
I like Kid Icarus but already have the 3DS version. Restore points aside, I have to agree that it’s the superior release. :^)
But yes, since the article asked, I’m all over Earthbound. Between that and the daily Rayman challenges, my Wii U is almost as busy as it will be when Pikmin 3 comes out!
The end-of-drought flood… It begins…
