I played the original for the first time on GBA when they did the NES classic series. I was blown away. Zelda is my favorite series. Seeing the origin felt like playing a raw or simplistic version of some of my favorite concepts. It actually connected with me better than the other 2D Zeldas I had played. I came into the series with OofT. I also can never get past the 4th dungeon. Zelda 2 I played on ambassador program for 3DS. Couldn’t get into it. However I did love Adventure Time on 3DS which is basically just Zelda 2 but easy.
