When the 3DS XL first launched in North America, fans only had a choice between two exterior colors: red and blue. Since then, a couple of different variations have been added to the mix, but one shade that has been conspicuously missing is black. It looks like that won’t be the case for much longer, however, as a couple of signs suggest that Nintendo is finally gearing up to release the color in North America (or, at least, in Canada).
Making the rounds on gaming sites across the Internet today is a flyer for Real Canadian Superstore, which lists an all-black variation of the console allegedly going on sale this Friday, July 26. Lending further credence to this is the North American commercial for Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, which also prominently features a black 3DS XL.
Given this evidence, it seems all but confirmed that the new color will be launching in the region soon, but as is the case with all speculation, we’ll wait until we get official word from Nintendo before we put any money aside for the system.

Wow! Haven’t bought anything electronic from Superstore for years. And it’s $20 off!
But I’m going to stick with my blue 3DS XL. If I ever had to replace it sometime down the road though, a midnight purple XL might be nice. :)
Too bad Superstore didn’t have Dad’s Root Beer the last time I went; that’s my main motivation for going. :P
