Flying dogs return to gaming in a sequel to Red the Hunter!

I’ll be honest, before writing this article I had never heard of Solatorobo. However, the response to the news that a sequel is in the works has caused quite the stir across a number of gaming forums, which leads me to believe that this news is kind of a big deal. Solatorobo: Red the Hunter is obviously held in high regard amongst those who have experienced the DS based original, a spiritual successor to the PlayStation game Tail Concerto. (For the record, we loved it.)

Having been a good boy and done my research, I can inform you that Solatorobo simply means ‘Sky & Robot’. The original game is a quirky action based RPG, in which you take on the role of Red Savarin, a ’17 year-old, anthropomorphic dog’. This is the extent of my research but that quote alone means that the game has gone straight to the top of my ‘Games I Must Buy’ List!

This story broke at a Namco Bandai event held in Barcelona, where CyberConnect2 president Hiroshi Matsuyama confirmed that a sequel was well and truly in development– this is no longer a pipe dream, this is happening. At present, no details have been confirmed regarding a possible release date or platform. At this stage my money would be on a 3DS release, but who knows which system the game may end up gracing.

Anyway, whilst I am still too ignorant to gauge exactly how exciting this news actually is, I plan to make the original Solatorobo my very next 3DS purchase. I guess only then will I be in a position to understand why this announcement has so many people so psyched.

Any Solatorobo fans out there? Let us know why we should be so excited for the sequel.

And it’s for sure coming to 3DS!?
    I sure hope so!
The only things that could possibly go wrong are cancellation or no import.

Or if they put it on Vita or something stupid like that… Not that there is anything wrong with Vita per se, but I already have too many consoles. ANd 3DS just makes sense?

I am ready to throw my money at whatever company releses this. I will be mortified if they cancel this or don’t import it.
