The final two add-on packs for New Super Mario Bros. 2, the Mystery Adventures Pack and the Impossible Pack, have been released today on the 3DS eShop. As usual, each of these packs contain three course for the Coin Rush mode, and come at $2.50 a piece.
The Mystery Adventures courses feature frequent splits and multiple hidden passages. This means players must explore each level multiple times to discover every secret and to collect as many coins as possible. The Impossible courses, on the other hand, do not have any power-ups or coins. Instead, players get coins based on their completion time. Basically, the Impossible courses are hardcore time trials that do not tolerate mistakes.
Super Meat Boy and Super Mario Bros. are perfect together.
Four months after its release, New Super Mario Bros. 2 has received a total of ten downloadable course packs. That amounts to thirty new courses for a total of approximately $25. It’s almost as if we have a brand new game in our hands.
I am happy to see Nintendo experiment with a new delivery model, but these packs seem a little expensive. Although these courses are large and elaborate, they are still incomparable to the glorious 3D courses in Super Mario Galaxy 2, which has more than 120 stars to collect. I am not made out of money, Nintendo!
