Fanboys and fangirls everywhere, rejoice! Everybody’s favorite heartwarming, funny, weird, and vaguely religious video game series may actually have a re-release.
According to Shigesato Itoi, the creator of the Mother series, it looks as if there is something in the works regarding the franchise. While details are lacking, there is one thing that is for certain– it’s not a Mother 4. All that Itoi said was that it wasn’t a fourth installment of the series and stated that he was attempting to get Mother working again. He wasn’t able to say much else.
So what could it be that he is working on? Some folks believe that it’s a possible release of Earthbound (or Mother 2) for the 3DS Virtual Console. Others think maybe Mother 3 will FINALLY make its way stateside. Regardless of what it may or may not be, all that we can hope for is that it’s something fantastic and it’s something that will make its way out here in the US or Europe.

This would be fantastic, but I suspect Europe will get shafted once again.
Ive never played any of the Earthbound/Mother games, But as a fan im well aware of them. I hope for a VC re-release.
