When the Wii Remote was first unveiled, it was touted as the future of gaming controllers, but one thing that mired it in the past was its reliance on AA batteries, which (as all Wii owners know too well) it drained fairly quickly. Fortunately, it looks like Nintendo is finally working on a solution to this predicament, issuing an online survey to gauge interest in a “fast battery charger” for the controller.
According to the survey, which can be seen below, Nintendo is looking into providing an official rechargeable battery pack for the Wii Remote, which would “provide up to 13 hours of use after a 90-minute charge.” While this is not an official confirmation of the product, the survey intimates that the battery pack would retail for approximately $40 USD and would include a rechargeable battery, a charging cradle, an AC adapter, and Wii Remote jacket, which is a pretty good indication that the accessory is close to reality.
