The latest issue of CoroCoro magazine has just gone on sale in Japan, and with it comes the revelation that last week’s new Pokémon is, as many fans have suspected, a new form of the legendary Psychic-type Mewtwo.
According to the magazine, Mewtwo “awakens” into this new form during the upcoming film Extremespeed Genesect: Mewtwo Awakens, in which the legendary Pokémon will be doing battle with the Genesect Army, a pack of five Genesect led by the shiny Red Genesect.
There are no details on how fans will be able to obtain this new Mewtwo form in Pokémon X and Y. Will it transform with a held item, like Giratina or Shaymin? Or will it morph when it learns a certain move, like Keldeo? And just how will its stats differ in this new form? There are still so many questions lingering around the new Pokémon. Here’s hoping we won’t have to wait too long to find out the answers.
Pokémon X and Y will be released worldwide this October. Extremespeed Genesect: Mewtwo Awakens will premiere in Japan on July 13.
