No, Nintendoji is not the long awaited game based on the epic adventures of the Nintendojo staff; instead it is something much more interesting.

Nintendoji is an RPG oriented around dungeon crawling, treaure collecting, and waging war with the most ancient of martial arts, card games. And a quick glance through the screen shots should be enough to reveal that this is a very Japanese game, with the characters and settings having a very classical look to them. But none of this is what’s most interesting about the game, because it is going to be exclusive to Platinum Members of Club Nintendo in Japan as a DSiWare or 3DS eShop download.

And I think this next screen is a nice little hint that this game is going to be wonderfully self-referential.

Making an entire game as a giveaway for the most devoted of fans really is an interesting idea that I think we can all agree more developers should explore. Or at the very least we can all hope that Nintendo will bring it to the rest of the world in an equally benevolent fashion. It would finally give me an excuse to enter the countless registration codes I have hanging around.
