To some, Mario Paint was a fantastic tool for expressing themselves through beautiful paintings and moving music. For others, myself included, it was the best fly swatting sim ever made. Thankfully, old and new swatters alike will get an opportunity to experience those glory days thanks to a newly revealed minigame in Super Mario Maker.
Players in need of a break from building stages will be able to play an updated, touchscreen enabled take on the classic Mario Paint minigame. Since the totally awesome SNES mouse peripheral isn’t supported, you’ll use the stylus and GamePad touch screen to swat increasingly difficult waves of flies, instead.
As a fan of the original minigame, I’ve actually somehow been made even more excited for Super Mario Maker. Thankfully, the game comes out on September 11 this year in North America and Europe, so I don’t have too long to wait to relive my insecticidal youth. Japan gets the game on September 10 while Australia has to wait until September 12.
