The quality of indie games tends to be a mixed bag, with some games touting production values that rival AAA titles and others that look straight out of a high school computer class. Chasing Dead, developed by 2020 Venture, seeks to be clumped with the former, as it is shaping up to be at the very least one of the prettiest indie games on Wii U. Set to be available as a download title on the eShop, Chasing Dead is being crafted with the Unity game engine, taking advantage of the kit’s impressive suite of 3D rendering tools. A first-person action/horror title, the game begins with the appearance of a second Earth in our sky. Players are thrust into the role of Jake, a 29-year-old mercenary tasked with investigating the disappearance of a team of scientists and soldiers who were sent to explore this seeming-replica of our planet.
2020 Venture has some lofty expectations for its game, as the gameplay trailer boasts a detailed, stunning world stuffed with enemies and action. It’s certainly impressive, with a handful of different game modes on display ranging from first-person shooting to driving segments. Some of the character animations are looking a little stiff, but the game is still a work-in-progress (voice recording and localization apparently began this past June), so hopefully any kinks are ironed out before release. In any event, Chasing Dead is primed to potentially be something special on the eShop, and give Wii U owners something fun to play during this continued dry spell of third-party support on the console.

That looks pretty good, could use a good title like this on eShop.
