Are you an Oddworld fan? Do you want to see new Oddworld games in the future? Then you better buy a copy of Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty.
Oddworld series developer Lorne Lanning has stated that development on an all new Oddworld title can begin if New ‘n’ Tasty (a remake of the first game in the series, Abe’s Odyssey) sells 500,000 copies. 250,000 in sales could get us a remake of the second Oddworld game. Lanning wants to make more games in the series, but unless he can secure funding from sales of the remakes, he won’t be able to. He says he has considered Kickstarter but doesn’t feel like he could get enough money to fund a whole game.
I haven’t played too many games in the Oddworld series, but I’m always interested to try new things. Let’s hope that New ‘n’ Tasty sells well enough to allow Lanning to make an all new game, and hopefully we will see multiple Oddworld titles on Wii U in the future.

The Jan/Feb 2014 issue of Nintendo Force had a great feature on Oddworld, including the reasons the series never found its way to Nintendo platforms before, despite the creators being big Nintendo fans.
I haven’t played any Oddworld games before (except a demo on PS3), but I love their style and unique interpretations of gaming genres. I’ll be grabbing both New ‘n’ Tasty and Stranger’s Wrath when they’re released on Wii U.
