Earlier this month, an ESRB rating for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night gave us our first indication that Koji Igarashi’s magnum opus was nearing its completion. During yesterday’s Nintendo Direct presentation, a release window was revealed: Summer 2019. Alongside the news, viewers were given a new trailer showcasing the Castlevania spiritual successor in action.
It will certainly be interesting to see how Bloodstained inevitably shakes out. Gamers have been clamoring for the title ever since it first arrived on Kickstarter, and longtime Castlevania fans have been craving the sort of gameplay that Koji Igarashi popularized with that particular franchise. Last year saw the release of an 8-bit prequel to Ritual of the Night, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon. The title was received fairly well by fans and critics alike. Hopefully Ritual of the Night will prove at least as satisfying!
