10) Korg DS-10
Released: Nintendo DS, 2008
Korg DS-10 is one of the few games on this list that’s all about making music, rather than listening to it. Korg is a Japanese brand of music synthesizers, or musical instruments/music makers. Korg DS-10 was more software program than game, and offered a robust suite of music tools that mimicked Korg’s synthesizers. While not terribly accessible, for those willing to invest the time, Korg DS-10 was an invaluable way of learning to make music. A follow-up for DSi was released in 2010 and called Korg DS-10 Plus. Regardless of the version used, Korg DS-10 is a must-have for budding musicians!
I don’t really like music games… but have to admit this list has a lot of quality software on it.
My only complaints:
* Donkey Konga and Mario DDR were great ideas but Nintendo needed more remixed NES tracks and fewer public domain songs thrown into the mix
* Rock Band 2 should be replaced by The Beatles Rock Band (not because Rock Band 2 is bad, but because The Beatles version is just that awesome)
