Chandeliers have been a staple of haunted house imagery for decades now, making Chandelure a perfect concept for a Ghost-type Pokémon. According to the Pokédex, Chandelure’s flames can burn away a person’s soul, leaving an empty human shell behind. Consuming life force is a common theme with Chandelure’s evolutionary chain; Litwick tricks people into assuming it’s being a helpful guide while sapping the person of their life force.
