Last week, Nintendo revealed a new redesign of their popular Wii console– the Wii Mini. It’s an odd decision, to say the least, and certainly unexpected. After all, Nintendo only just launched Wii U a few weeks ago, and that’s a brand new console. So why create a new Wii when it’s already been confirmed that there aren’t any more Wii games in the pipeline? We have no idea– and we’re certainly not going to try second-guessing Miyamoto on the reason behind its conception either.
We may have only just got our Wii Us, but hot damn that’s a mighty fine console!
Regardless of whether it’s the most ill-timed redesign in the history of consoles, though, we can’t deny it has a certain charm to it. That bright red casing, that rough, black matte finish… It’s certainly got a whole lot more character than the original white one, that’s for sure. And for $100, well, it would almost be rude not to. The question is, though, do you want one? We know it’s not coming to the UK any time soon, but if it does manage to jump the fence from being a Canadian exclusive, is the new design enough to tempt you to buy one?
