Earlier today, Nintendo released a trailer detailing all of the DLC maps available for its 3DS strategy RPG Fire Emblem Awakening, including a look at the upcoming Lost Bloodlines, Smash Brethren, and Rogues Packs.

Unlike previous add-on maps, which awarded players rare items or a legendary hero for use on their teams, the Lost Bloodlines and Smash Packs will also introduce two new character classes to the game: the Dread Fighter class, and the Bride class. Both classes can be induced through a special item that is obtained only by clearing its respective map. All three DLC packs will also add new legendary heroes to recruit, including Ike from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and its Wii followup, Radiant Dawn; Lyn from Fire Emblem on Game Boy Advance; and Seliph from the Japan-only Genealogy of Holy War, among many others.

Nintendo has already released six additional maps for Fire Emblem Awakening, with a new one available to download every week. Players can purchase each map individually for $2.50 (with the first one, Champions of Yore 1, available for free until March 5), or as a three-pack at a slightly discounted price.

So if I buy the DLC packs is it always gonna be there? Like if I decided to start over or if my girlfriend plays on another save file would the DLC be there or need to be bought separately?

To be honest, I’m not entirely sure myself. I imagine the record of your purchase would stay there since it’s tied to your eShop account; you’d just have to redownload it once you unlock the Outrealm Gate. Guess that’s something I’ll have to look into if I ever start a file on Hard!
