Capcom’s phenomenally popular RPG series Monster Hunter will be bringing two interesting features into the fold when Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is released for Wii U and 3DS next month. The home console version will allow off-TV play on the GamePad, while the online game will be opened up such that it will be possible for both European and North American players to connect to other hunters overseas. Both of these features will be issued as an update this April.

The moves appear to be an attempt to bolster the series’ popularity in the West. While the Monster Hunter games have done incredibly well in Japan, they have not met with quite the same success in the West so far, and Capcom will hope that by adding these features they can win over some Western gamers.
