The third version of the extremely popular Pokémon-like game Yo-Kai Watch 2, appropriately named Headliner, sold way faster than the previous two iterations. According to Famitsu, estimated sales are 1,211,918 units in Japan. It is also worth mentioning that the game came out on Saturday, December 13, but the sales data covers only up to December 14.
The previous two versions of Yo-Kai Watch 2 sold 1,281,096 units at launch over four days. The original Yo-Kai Watch sold over 52,901 units over the similar four day period. As you can see, Yo-Kai Watch 2 continues to be the hottest game in Japan right now. Do you think it is because of Japan’s love for Pokémon or because of pretty smart toy integration? The success of this series really fascinated me. I’m astounded it hasn’t been localized yet, given the popularity of the series. If it ever does reach our shores, I almost feel obligated to try it just out of curiosity!
