Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is proving to be a force to be reckoned with this holiday season. While sales are soaring for Smash Bros. and Wii U here in the US, Japan is also seeing a bump in consumer interest with the launch of the new fighting game.
Though the install base of Wii U consoles is roughly two million in Japan, the rate at which Smash Bros. is being purchased there is outstripping, comparatively, the handheld version of the game. The outlook for Nintendo is bright here at the tail end of 2014, and hopefully the bolstered sales in Japan are mirrored in other regions, as well.
