Amiibo figurines may be limited in compatibility with most Nintendo games at the moment, but their functionality will definitely expand in the future. Bandai Namco’s recent announcement proves this, as Amiibo support will be included in One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X on 3DS.
The way Amiibo function in the game is very similar to what is found in Mario Kart 8, as each figurine gives the player access to character specific costumes. Costumes for Mario, Luigi, Fox, and Link have been confirmed so far and more will probably be found within the game when it releases.
I love that Nintendo isn’t the only company utilizing Amiibo in its games. What do you think of the news? Let us know in the comments!

Not really a One Piece fan, but this is pretty awesome. Nice to see some third party titles getting amiibo support. Certainly not the game I would expect, though!
Agreed. It definitely makes more sense to use the same figurines for multiple games, 3rd party included, rather than buying multiple sets for just one or two games (I’m talking to you, Skylanders)!
