If there are two things Ubisoft loves, it’s open world games filled with hundreds of little things to eat up your time and new console launches. The French publisher has never shied away from supporting new hardware at launch (look at Red Steel for Wii or ZombiU for Wii U) and from the sounds of it, Nintendo’s NX won’t be any different.
CEO Yves Guillemot recently brought the system up in an investors meeting, stating, “What we have seen is really great, so we think having a new machine coming is going to help the industry to continue to grow and to take lots more casual players back in the industry.”

His comment about casual players is especially significant for Ubisoft. The company was especially successful in leveraging Wii’s casual appeal, especially with the surprisingly huge Just Dance, which went on to spawn numerous sequels and emerge as one of the publisher’s big franchises. Even if dancing games might not be your core gamer’s cup of tea, Ubisoft remains a major player in the AAA industry and is even known for the occasional smaller, almost indie-like titles such as Child of Light, so its support remains quite significant.
