When the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles make their return to theaters this summer, they’ll have a new video game to accompany it. Today, Activision announced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the Nintendo 3DS. The game is being developed by Magic Pockets, the team responsible for the Turtles’ previous 3DS outing, based on the Nickelodeon cartoon.
Players will control each of the four classic Ninja Turtles– Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo– as they attempt to stop the Foot Clan. Each playable character will boast unique abilities, setting them apart from one another. Raphael is stronger, while Michelangelo is the fastest of the four brothers. The game also boasts a weapon-creation system based on items players find throughout the game.
While the title appears to loosely follow the events of the Michael Bay-produced film, it will also incorporate other characters from the history of the TMNT franchise. We do know that the villainous turtle Slash will appear, getting a makeover to blend in with the film’s new aesthetic. Fans might remember the character from the SNES classic Turtles in Time where he appeared as one of the game’s boss characters.
Stay tuned to Nintendojo where we’ll have more information on the game in the near future! In the meantime, let us know if you’re excited for the new title in the comments below!
