While the launch of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has come and gone on Nintendo Switch, fans have been waiting for SEGA to announced when the game would finally be coming to Nintendo Switch 2. Now, the company has revealed that the game’s arrival is very close to crossing the proverbial finish line—December 4, 2025. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is promising to bring the game much closer in quality to the version on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take a look:
If you’re curious about what the improvements will entail exactly, here’s what SEGA has to say:
- Docked mode, single and 2-player split-screen: 2560×1440@60fps
- Docked mode, 4-player split-screen: 2560×1440@30fps
- Handheld mode, single and 2-player split-screen: 1920×1080@60fps
- Handheld mode, 4-player split-screen: 1920×1080@30fps
Based on this and the trailer itself, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Nintendo Switch 2 Edition looks like it’s going to be the definitive version of the game for Nintendo fans to look forward to. What’s more, players with the Switch version will be able to purchase the Upgrade Pack not at $10, but at a 50 percent discount (so, $5) from launch until December 10, 2025. A physical edition of the game is also expected to hit stores (with the game on the cartridge, not a download) come early 2026.
