Pokémon Battle Academy has taken home the top prize for games from the Toy of the Year Awards. The TOTY Awards are coveted by those who produce goods in the toy and game sectors, so it’s big honor for The Pokémon Company to have come out on top to secure such recognition. The award comes at a time when more people than ever have been isolated at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Here’s what Barry Sams, vice president of Pokémon Trading Card Game at The Pokémon Company International, had to say about the award:

“The Pokémon TCG is a cornerstone of the brand, and with Battle Academy, our mission is to give families a fun and accessible way to spend quality time together. We are thrilled that Battle Academy has been recognized for these efforts, and it’s rewarding to see so many kids bonding with parents over their love of Pokémon TCG cards.”

Pokémon Battle Academy is a board game version of the beloved Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG). It’s designed to help young and newbie fans learn how to play the game. If you’re like this writer and collect the cards without knowing how to play, but would like to try and learn, this is a great way to do so. Congrats to the folks at Pokémon Trading Card Game for this honor!
