Nintendo of America President Talks About the Possibility of Grand Theft Auto VI Coming to Switch 2

It’s going to be one of the biggest media launches ever, but will it ever come to Nintendo’s console?

Grand Theft Auto VI hits PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S on November 19, 2026. Its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto V, is one of the best selling video games ever made, with roughly 225 to 230 million units sold since its launch on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 back in 2013. GTA V has been ported since then to both PS4 and PS5, making its longevity the stuff of legends. With innovations like Grand Theft Auto Online a major part of the game’s success, GTA V took the series to new heights; heights that Rockstar is very, very anxious to stay at, or even exceed, with GTA VI.

Which might make one wonder, well if Rockstar wants GTA VI to be a huge hit, wouldn’t it make sense to put the game on Nintendo Switch 2? Well, Variety certainly had this on the brain, as the outlet asked new Nintendo of America President Devon Pritchard her thoughts on the GTA VI coming to Switch 2. Her answer, sadly, wasn’t very long, but it’s gotten tongues a wagging. Here’s the (brief) quote:

It’s a pretty noncommittal answer that lays everything at the feet of Rockstar and Take Two. It wasn’t a yes, it wasn’t a no. So it was a… maybe? At this point, a few classic GTA games have made their way to Switch and Switch 2, so it’s not like it’s impossible to see the franchise on a Nintendo console. However, until there’s an official announcement, it looks like Nintendo fans will just have to keep holding onto hope that GTA VI will eventually come to Switch 2.
