2013 has been turning out to be a great year for 3DS, what with Fire Emblem Awakening, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate all hitting the console in the past couple of months, and it looks like it’s only getting better with this week’s release of LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins, which goes on sale in North America and Europe on April 21 and April 26, respectively.
A prequel of sorts to Wii U’s LEGO City Undercover, The Chase Begins follows series protagonist Chase McCain in his first year on the police force. Like any rookie cop, Chase wants to make a name for himself on the streets of LEGO City, but he soon gets caught up in a crime wave orchestrated by his future nemesis Rex Fury, which only his powers of disguise can stop.
Despite the move to 3DS, The Chase Begins retains the same open-world gameplay of the Wii U title, which has been adapted to better suit a portable console. The game also makes use of the handheld’s unique features, allowing players to exchange collectables such as vehicles and postcards with one another via StreetPass.
